“Little Dog”
Ron Kinard © 2002

where are you, little dog
where have you gone
you ran out the door
I feel so alone

I called for you continuously
day after day
over and over
for your safety, I’d pray

I looked all over
our neighborhood
for blocks and blocks
like I knew I should

I talked to strangers
everyone I saw
stopping cars in the street
even breaking the law

nothing I did
was good enough
I’ve yet to find you
I have to be tough

so much time has passed
there’s no trace of you
there’s a hole in my heart
reserved just for you

each day I wonder
if you are alive
or resting peacefully
at Jesus’ side

one day, little dog
I’ll see you again
until then, know I love you
you are my best friend

~This poem is dedicated to Cosmo, I still miss you little man!~
